Shinde to chair EZC meeting in city tomorrow

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will chair the 20th meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council, comprising West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand, here tomorrow.

Chief ministers and two other ministers, who are members of the council, besides Jharkhand Governor and dignitaries from the Centre are expected to attend the meeting, an official release here said today.

The proposed agenda includes issues like safety on national highways, besides those relating to internal security, communal harmony and allotment of land for CRPF to establish Battalion Camping Sites.

Police administration, border area development programme, strengthening of vigilance establishment in the states to deal with corruption and SC/ST welfare are some of the other issues likely to be discussed tomorrow.
 

Five zonal councils were created with the basic objective to develop the habit of cooperative working among the states and to provide a meeting ground in different regions for solving inter-state problems and fostering balances socio-economic development of respective states.
