"The Home Minister would plan a visit to Amritsar shortly to take stock of the security network and other facilities at the ICP which have recently been set up to facilitate faster movement of Cargo between the two neighbouring countries," BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu said in a release here today.
Shinde, during a meeting with Sidhu along with a delegation of Confederation of International Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CICCI) in Delhi, said he had taken note of the inadequate security arrangements and also the problems of infrastructure at the Border post.
He said that he would soon give directions to the concerned officers to take up these issues on top priority basis so that the traders can run their business without any hassles, Sidhu said in the release.
Setting up of powerful scanners at the entry point on the International Border, deployment of sniffer dog squads, installing CCTV Cameras, round the clock patrolling by security personnels and security audit of the ICP and at the Railway Cargo Terminus at Attari and Amritsar would also be on the agenda of the Home Minister, the BJP MP said.
