The Shiradi Ghat stretch of National Highway 75 would be closed for vehicular traffic from October15, to facilitate the completion of the second phase of road concrete work there,official sources here said.
The road work was expected to be completed before Junenext year.
GVR Infrastructure, which bagged the contract forRs 89 crore, had already stocked materials required for theroad works, they said

The new concrete road would be 8.5 metres wide and theNational Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was hopeful ofcompleting the road work by June next year, officials said.
The stretch was closed for traffic for a few months during thefirst phase of traffic two years back.
Though the Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai suggested that one-way traffic be allowed during the work, officials felt that it might lead to accidents besides creating bottlenecks in the road work, the sources said.
