Shiv Sena retains KDMC standing committee

Shiv Sena nominee Deepesh Mhatre was today elected chairman of the standing committee of the Kalyan Dombivili Municipal Corporation.

He defeated his only rival Rajan Marathe of the MNS by 7-4 votes in the elections held in the civic headquarters today.

In the 16-member committee, the Shiv Sena has a total strength of five, one member is from the BJP, one is independent and two each are from the NCP and Congress.

BJP member Archana Kothawale was present for the election, but remained neutral and refused to accept the whip and vote in the elections.

The two Congress members came for the meeting but did not vote while the two NCP members remained absent during voting.
