Shiv Sena today demanded that a statue of its late leader Bal Thackeray be installed in the Vidhan Bhawan (Legislature Complex) premises.

Sena leader Diwakar Raote has written a letter to the Legislative Council chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh in this regard, in which he pointed out that a meeting on installing statues of other prominent leaders, including the late Vilasrao Deshmukh, has been convened tomorrow.

"In tomorrow's meeting, please also consider installing Balasaheb's statue as a tribute to his contribution to the state," the letter says.

Thackeray passed away in November last year.
