Four youths, in an inebriated condition, attacked SHO Suba Singh with a sharp edged weapon last night, DSP Qadian Ranjit Singh said.
In the clash, the SHO suffered an injury in the head.
Despite the head injury, the SHO grabbed one of the youths, whereas the others managed to escape, he said.
The SHO was rushed to civil hospital, where he received 18 stitches on his head and doctors declared his condition as stable, he said.
"The SHO had laid a naka near Buttar chowk to check the illegal supply of drugs," the DSP said adding, the four youths when stopped by Suba attacked him.
The arrested youth has been identified as Surjan Singh, a resident of Rampur village, he said.
