SHO surrenders before court in custodial death case

Devendra Chaudhary, the erstwhile station house officer (SHO) of Town police station, today surrendered before a court here in connection with a case of custodial death of a man four years ago.

Faced with an arrest warrant, Chaudhary surrendered in the court of the chief judicial magistrate Habibullah which remanded him in 14 days of judicial custody.

Chaudhary had moved a bail plea but it was rejected by the court.

Manoj Yadav had died in custody at Nawada Town police station on January 15, 2012, allegedly due to severe beating by policemen.
