A day after 11 huts of Mahadalit families were torched by rival groups in a village in Bihar's Lakhisarai district, Suryagraha police station's Station House Officer (SHO) was transferred today and strict action has been recommended against the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) for dereliction of duty.

Munger division's Public Relations Deputy Director K K Upadhyaya said Munger range DIG S P Shukla today ordered the transfer of SHO Suresh Rajak after visiting Mohammedpur village with Lakhisarai DM Manoj Kumar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sanjay Kumar and others to review the situation.

Upadhyaya said the Lakhisarai district administration has suspended a government employee Sunil Kumar and recommended suspension and departmental proceedings against SDO Subhash Kumar for their failure to prevent the incident.

Taking note of frequent occurrence of clashes over land disputes involving Mahadalit families, Munger divisional commissioner Sunil Kumar Singh has directed all SDOs of the districts under his division to take transparent and timely action to resolve land disputes related to Mahadalits.
