Shobha Yatra taken out in Mathura, Janmashtami celebrations conclude

Thousands of people participated in a huge Shobha Yatra taken out in Mathura city on Wednesday to mark the conclusion of the three-day Janmashtami celebrations.

"Aimed to protect and preserve culture of Brijbhumi and maintain harmony through the teachings of Krishna in the epic, Gita, the Shobha Yatra was taken out today," Krishna Gopalanand Deo Goswami, head of Radha Shyam Sundar temple and coordinator of the yatra, said.

Kanika Goswami, head of Radha Damodar temple, said the religious procession presented the culture of the city as it was a congregession of disciple of various temples and saints.

The yatra began with a 'Yamuna poojan' at Govind Ghat on the bank of the river.
