A costume assistant was arrested here for allegedly shooting videos of a 49-year-old television actress on his mobile phone which was planted in her changing room at a bungalow in Madh area, police said today.

The accused, identified as Abdul Qayyum Ansari (24), had allegedly placed his mobile handset under the make-up table of the actress, who was shooting for a television show in the bungalow, they said.

"Ansari was arrested on Saturday last," senior Inspector at Malvani police station Milind Khetle said, adding that Ansari was later released on bail by a magistrate court.

The incident took place on July 8 when the actress had returned to her changing room after winding up the shoot at night, he said.

According to police, the handset was placed under the table in the changing room.

After inquiring the staff, the actress learnt that the handset belonged to Ansari, police said, adding the phone was on video-recording mode when it was spotted by her.

"Ansari pleaded with the actress to not lodge a complaint against him and apologised. He also submitted a written apology to the production manager of the TV show," Khetle said.

However, an FIR was lodged on Friday night, following which Ansari was arrested on Saturday under section 354-C (voyeurism) of IPC.
