A shop at the Ambala Cantonment area near here today was gutted in a fire, police said.
The incident took place at the Capital Chowk. No casualties were reported as the shop and the market were closed, they said.
The market in the area usually remains closed on Monday.
The shop's owner Rajiv Sethi said that the financial loss is yet to be calculated.
The police said that they were informed about the matter by a passerby, who noticed smoke coming out from the shop.
Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused after two hours, they said, adding that the cause of fire is yet be ascertained.
Sethi deals in items of daily need of army personnel.
