Shopkeeper murdered in Punjab, 5 booked

A shopkeeper was allegedly murdered by five persons at Sujanpur area here, police said today.

The shopkeeper, identified as Rajesh Singh, died yesterday after he was allegedly attacked by five persons with bricks on September 9 while he was on his way back home along with his brother, they said.

Singh was rushed to the civil hospital with severe injuries on the same day from where he was discharged but and later shifted to a private hospital on September 13 where he succumbed to injuries yesterday, police said.

A case has been registered against Sonu, Deep, Pappu, Gadda and Kaddi, residents of Sujanpur area, under various sections of IPC following a complaint by the victim's brother, Ragbeer Singh, police said, adding that an old enmity might be the reason behind the attack.
 

No arrests have been made and the accused are absconding, police said.
