Shops destroyed in fire

Six shops were gutted in an

accidental fire at Talapady on the Karnataka-Kerala border here today, police said.

The fire which broke out around 5.30 AM was claimed to have caused a total loss of about Rs 75 lakh to six shops in the area, they said.

The fire, first spotted by a shop owner, was brought under control after two hours. The fire, suspected to have been caused by short circuit, in one shop spread to the others rapidly, they said, adding, no one was injured.
