Early morning rain in Srinagar- the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir - today brought down the mercury to normal levels even as MeT office predicted light rain or thundershower at isolated places during the next 24 hours in the state.
The maximum temperature in Srinagar dropped by almost six degrees to settle at 18.5 degrees Celsius - which is normal during this part of the season, a spokesman of the MeT Department said.
He said the minimum temperature, however, continued to be four degrees above normal despite slipping two degrees to settle at 9.7 degrees Celsius.
The winter capital Jammu recorded a high of 34.1 degrees Celsius - same as yesterday which was five degrees above normal, the spokesman said.
He said the minimum temperature in the city was 19.5 degrees Celsius, a drop of 0.7 degrees Celsius against the previous night's 20.7 degrees Celsius.
The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a high of 10.8 degrees Celsius and a low of 0.2 degrees Celsius, the spokesman added.
