The Jammu and Kashmir's Human Rights Organisation (SHRC) has sent a notice to the state government over a reported guest control order issued by it and sought report on the issue.
J&K SHRC Chairperson Justice Bilal Nazki has asked the government to submit a report disclosing the authority under which the order was passed "imposing restrictions on injudicious use of essential commodities in social, government, private functions".
According to a handout issued by the Secretary SHRC, Nazki took suo moto cognisance of a report published in a section of media on March 30 on the issue.

The SHRC directed the commissioner secretary to the Department of Food, Civil Supplies Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology to submit a report disclosing the authority of law under which the order was passed.
"Besides, the advocate general is requested to give his opinion to the commission, so that the commission is benefited in finally disposing of the matter and the law secretary is directed to file his response in the matter," the handout read.
The matter has been listed for May 18.
