The Arthanareeswarar Temple, 45 km from Namakkal, has been closed following heavy rains in the area and a landslip recently on the road leading to the ancient hill shrine.
Rains that lashed Tiruchengode triggered a landslip three days ago,leading to closure of the road.
State minister Thangamani and Namakkal collector Dakshinamoorthy inspected the landslip site today.

The road through the hilltop leading to the temple was laid in 1984.
Meanwhile, at Erode, a local pond overflowed following heavy rains and the water entered 150 huts on its banks, officials said today.
The Perumpallam Odai running across the town surplused and the water entered the huts following which the inmates were immediately shifted to safer places like community centres and marriage halls.
Some utensils in the huts were damaged, officials said.
The rain started 11 pm last night and continued till 5 am today, inundating roads.
Power supply was switched off in some areas.
At Nadarmedu in the suburbs, the compound wall of a house collapsed.
Kavindapady recorded highest rain of 164 mm while Erode 147 mm last night.
