Leading south Indian actress Shriya Saran today visited the second Kochi-Muziris Biennale, describing the contemporary art event as the "best way" to connect to the world.
"I felt like I was 'Shriya in Wonderland'," the actor of 'Pokkiri Raja' and 'The Midnight's Children' said after spending the morning at the Aspinwall House venue of the biennale.
Saran, who acted in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films and was welcomed by Kochi Biennale Foundation president Bose Krishnamachari here, spent several minutes before each art work, even taking selfies with installations in the background.
"I loved Parvathi Nayar's work, 'The Fluidity of Horizons'," she said, adding, it was "precise and very intricate. I was also fascinated by the 'kalamkari' work of Telugu artist Lavanya Mani," Saran said, referring to the traditional textile work in 'Travellers Tales - Blueprints'.
"The world of art gives you a lot of inspiration and creates dreams. It is the best way to connect to the world," she said. "Art has no language."
"I also liked the work of N S Harsha," Saran said. "I was blown away by it," she said about the gigantic painting measuring 12 feet high and 80 feet wide.
Accompanied by her mother Neerja Saran, she also spent time looking at the works of artists like Lebanese artist Mona Hatoum, Swiss artist Marie Velardie and Rotterdam-based Malayali artist Aji V N.
