Director Kabir Khan says the new Shyam Benegal-led panel, formed to revamp the controversy-stricken censor board, is a "relief" for the film industry.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been slammed by many Bollywood stars, owing to its decision of cutting scenes in films like "NH 10" and "Dum Laga Ke Haisha" to shortening a kiss in "Spectre".
The panel, which will submit its report in two months, also includes film-maker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Piyush Pandey and film critic Bhawana Somaaya. National Film Development Council managing director Nina Lath Gupta and joint secretary (films) Sanjay Murthy will also be part of the committee.
