SI arrested by Vigilance for accepting bribe

Vigilance sleuths today caught a sub-inspector while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from Kalibagh police outpost in Bihar's West Champaran district.

One Sanjay Kumar Mishra alias Bablu Mishra, a resident of Purani Gudri area in West Champaran district, had lodged a complaint with Vigilance Investigation Bureau against the accused.

Mishra said Umesh Prasad, a SI posted with Kalibagh police outpost under Town police station of West Champaran, was demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 for helping him in a case, a Vigilance release said.

But later, the accused agreed to take Rs 5,000 as bribe, the release said.

After verifying the case, vigilance officials constituted a flying squad headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar Singh who arrested the sub-inspector from his official residence located in Kalibagh outpost while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000.
 

The accused would be produced before Special Vigilance Court, Muzaffarpur after interrogation, the release said.

Altogether 40 persons have been arrested by Vigilance department so far in 2016, the release added.
