SI arrested in Rs 1.22 cr cheating case

A sub-inspector of police posted in the state CID wing was today arrested for allegedly duping a 60 women of Rs 1.22 crore, police said.

The SI, Prakash Chandani was today arrested for allegedly duping the women through his wife who sought invesments during kitty parties in Jawaharnagar and Adarsh Nagar areas here, an official spokesman said.

Prakash's wife Jyoti Chandani was arrested earlier on the FIRs filed by the women who used to attend kitty parties and deposit money for hidden investment purpose to her, the spokesman said, quoting DCP (East) Dr Amandeep Singh Kapoor.

When the women did not get their money back, they filed the FIRs in police stations of Jawaharnagar and Adarsh Nagar, the spokesman said.
 

The SI was arrested under various sections of IPC including cheating and criminal conspiracy, and being a partner to property and assets of his wife, he said.
