Investigation Bureau (VIB) today arrested a Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Vaishali district.

VIB officials said the SI, identified as Dhananjay Jha, was posted at Bidupur police station in the district and was allegedly taking money from one Satish Kumar of Mohanpur village under the same police station area for helping with regard to case diary of two incidents.

"Kumar complained that the SI was asking for Rs 10,000 as bribe for providing help with regard to case diary in FIRs 194/15 and 196/15 lodged at Bidupur police station. He complained to us. We verified the allegations and found them to be true," a VIB official said.

A team was accordingly constituted under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) T N Biswas, which nabbed Jha from his official residence near the police station as he was taking money.

The VIB official said the SI is being interrogated and will be produced at special vigilance court at Muzaffarpur later on.
