SI checking vehicles abducted; rescued

A Sub-Inspector of Police engaged in a vehicle inspection was abducted by four unidentified persons after he found some weapons in their car, but his colleagues gave a chase and rescued him later.

Police said they were searching for the four persons, who managed to flee after the incident late last night.

SI Abhilash of Thenhipalam police station here was conductingthe vehicle inspection at Kohinoor when he intercepted the car. During the check, he found a bag containing swords, iron rods and face masks.

Even as the SI was questioning the occupants about the weapons, he was dragged inside the car and the gang drove away.
 

But the team of policemen who had accompanied the SI for the vehicle check, gave a chase in their jeep and intercepted the car at some distance away.

On being cornered, the four occupants of the car fled, abandoning their vehicle, police said adding further investigation was on.
