A Sub-Inspector of Police was today arrested by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing here while allegedly accepting Rs 4000 as bribe from two persons for freeing them from a petty case.
Salem Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandramouli said a petty case was registered in May against two persons by the sub-inspector of Kitchipalyam station, M Rajendran. He demanded Rs 2000 each so that he could free them in the police station itself, the DSP said.
Vigilance police trapped and arrested him under the prevention of corruption act, when the bribe was being paid, he added.
