SI held on graft charge

A Sub-Inspector of Police (SI)

was arrested today on graft charge by vigilance department from Bihar's Saran district, an official said.

Acting on a tip off, a vigilance team laid a trap and caught the SI Manoj Kumar Ram red-handed as soon as he took Rs. 20,000 as bribe from one Arvind Dubey at Jalalpur police station, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Maharaja Kanishka Kumar Singh said.

The SI had demanded bribe to do a favour to the complainant in connection with a case, he said.

Ram was posted as SI at Jalalpur police station, the DSP said, adding that the accused cop has been booked under the provisions of prevention of corruption act.
