The transfer of the Valapattanam police station SI, B K Siju to Chombala Police station at Kozhikode yesterday was on his request, sources said.
Sudhakaran, representing politically volatile Kannur in the Lok Sabha, had protested before the police station at nearby Valapattanam on October 31 and had an argument with the SI demanding release of two youth Congress workers, allegedly involved in sand smuggling.
Sudhakaran had also protested against the detention of a Youth Congress leader, who came to the station earlier seeking their release. Police had said the leader had picked up an argument with the SI and was put in the lock-up.
Police had also registered cases against Sudhakaran and others for obstructing functioning of police personnel there.
Home Minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan immediately asked IG (Kannur Range) Jose George to probe the issue and submit a report.
The report, submitted on November 4, said it was not right to have kept the two arrested to stand in the prison in their underclothes, sources said.
Meanwhile, the SI has gone on leave from yesterday.
