Two brothers from Maharashtra's Thane district, who were allegedly kidnapped while on a business tour to Malaysia, arrived here today after being released in the south east Asian country, police said.

Rohan Prakash Vaidya (36) and Kaustubh Prakash Vaidya (31), from the district's Dombivali area, had gone to Malaysia on August 1 after their fish export firm called Rock Frozen Food landed an order from Malaysia-based Mis Lee Frozen Foods.

Their uncle, Rajiv Vaidya, had filed a complaint of kidnapping with Thane police on August 4.

According to the complaint, one of the brothers called up home on August 2 at around 10.30 pm to inform the family that they had been kidnapped by unknown persons who were demanding a ransom of Rs 1 crore.

Thane police spokesperson Sukhada Narkar today said that the brothers were kidnapped after a meeting with representatives of the Malaysian company in Kuala Lumpur and kept captive till August 6.

Police refused to divulge details of the events leading to the release of the two men in Malaysia.
