Equating the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh with a "sick child", Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, Gopal Bhargava, said he believed that the dispensation would not last long.
Talking to reporters here, Bhargava said it remains to be seen how long the BSP, the SP and the independents continue to support the Congress government in the state.
"Several Congress leaders have expressed their disagreement over the way the Kamal Nath-led Congress government is functioning in the state. I feel sad over the kind of politics the chief minister and his ministers are indulging in...I believe this government will be short-lived," he said.
"For how long will a sick child survive? The Congress has formed a government in the state by garnering the support of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) MLAs besides a few independents. How long will these people support the government?" Bhargava asked.
"We will come to know how many people are with the Congress government on the day the Kamal Nath cabinet is expanded," he said.
Asked about the two BJP MLAs Narayan Tripathi and Sharad Kol, who backed the Congress government over a Bill during the recent Assembly Session, Bhargava said, "Tripathi and Kol are still BJP MLAs and will remain with the party in future as well."
Bhargava also alleged that the Congress government in the state wanted to delay the urban bodies elections due to the rising popularity of the BJP government at the Centre.
