A day after police removed the poster and banners of late Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale following a clash, activists of some Sikh bodies today celebrated the birth anniversary of the militant, who had led the Khalistan movement.

Activists of eight socio-religious Sikh bodies put up a poster of Bhindranwale outside a shop in local Gaushala road, raised pro-Bhindranwale slogans and distributed sweets, prompting police to hold a flag march in the city.

The activists were from eight Sikh bodies including Akal Students Federation, Sri Sukhmani Sahib Seva Society, Gurmat Gian Mission Charitable Trust, Sarv Naujawan Sabha, Sri Guru Ram Das Seva Mission Society, Akal Fauj Gatka Akhada, Miri Piri Gatka Dal and Kalgidhar Naujawan Sabha.

Yesterday, activists of SAD (Amritsar) and Shiv Sena clashed over putting posters of the late Sikh militant.

Shiv Sena activists blocked traffic, forcing police to remove the posters.
