The protesters, led by Sujaan Singh, secretary of the Nanak Nagar Gurdawara Prabandhak Board, raised slogans and sought a thorough probe into the incident, apart from enhanced security for the Sikh community in the US.

"We condemn this cowardly act in a place of worship and demand a probe into the incident", Singh said.

Meanwhile, some protesters also blocked the Jammu-Pathankot highway in Digiana area of the district, but traffic was restored within a couple of hours, police said.

Six people were killed and several others injured after a gunman opened fire in a Gurudwara in Wisconsin in the US during Sunday morning prayers yesterday.

The lone gunman was also killed by police.
