Pakistan's Sikh community today held a demonstration here, protesting alleged sacrilege of the holy book of the Sikhs in Punjab in India.

The protesters blocked roads and raised slogans against the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding a thorough probe into the incident.

The Sikh agitators, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister's Advisor on Minority Affairs Sardar Suran Singh, burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Modi, alleging that his government failed to secure the rights of people living in the country.

The protesters called for protective measures for people endorsing faiths in India other than Hinduism.

An incident of alleged sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib recently took place in a village in Faridkot district in Punjab, provoking widespread protests in several parts of the state.
