Sikkimese woman raped

A 25-year-old woman from Sikkim was allegedly raped by a doctor in south Delhi's Hauz Khas area here last night.

Police said that as per initial investigation, the victim was brought to Delhi by some persons four-five days back on the pretext of providing her a job.

The incident came to light this morning when the victim, who presently lives in Munirka area of south Delhi, called up police and narrated her ordeal.

"The girl told police that some persons known to her took her to the house of a doctor in Hauz Khas last night and left from there. Thereafter, the doctor allegedly raped her," said a police official.
 

Police said that doctor, who works with a government hospital, is being interrogated to ascertain the sequence of events.

"We have detained the accused doctor and are questioning him. We are also trying to find out who left her at the doctor's house," he said.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim, a case has been registered at Hauz Khas Police Station.

Police said that it is also a case of human trafficking and prostitution and they are looking for people who brought her to the national capital.

"We have also approached the girl's family members to get some leads in the case," he said.
