Tracking weak cues from overseas markets, silver prices fell by Rs 125 to Rs 37,875 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed bets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March was trading lower by Rs 125, or 0.33 per cent, at Rs 37,875 per kg in a business turnover of 146 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in May declined by Rs 102, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 38,412 per kg in a business volume of five lots.

In the international market, silver fell 0.18 per cent to USD 16.36 an ounce in Singapore today.

Traders said the fall in silver prices was largely in line with a weak trend in precious metals in global markets.
