Silver down by 0.6% on weak global cues

Traders said the fall in silver prices at futures trade was largely in line with a weak trend in precious metals in global markets

Taking weak cues from overseas markets, silver prices tumbled Rs 201 to Rs 33,388 per kg in futures trade today, as participants reduced exposure.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December lost Rs 201, or 0.60%, to Rs 33,388 per kg in a business turnover of 346 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month March 2016 was trading lower by Rs 176, or 0.51%, to Rs 34,094 per kg in a business volume of 23 lots.

In the international market, silver slumped 1.5% to $13.97 an ounce in Singapore today, the lowest level since August 2009.
