Silver prices climbed 2.48 per cent to Rs 48,624 per kg in futures trade today as participants created speculative positions amid a firming trend in the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May jumped up by Rs 1,178, or 2.48 per cent, to Rs 48,624 per kg in business turnover of 1,327 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March climbed by Rs 1,029, or 2.21 per cent to Rs 47,642 per kg in 19,788 lots.

Market analysts said the rise in silver prices at futures trade was mostly attribtued to a firming trend overseas.
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.7 per cent to USD 21.64 an ounce, after touching USD 21.97, the highest since November 7 in London.
