Tracking recovery in the precious metals overseas, silver prices were higher by Rs 149 to Rs 43,082 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

In futures trade at the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December surged by Rs 149 or 0.35 per cent to Rs 43,082 per kg in a business turnover of 15 lots.

The white metal for delivery in far-month March next year was trading higher by Rs 143 or 0.33 per cent to Rs 43,695 per kg in 500 lots.

Market analysts said speculative position built up by participants, driven by a better global trend, mainly attributed to the rise in silver prices at futures trade here.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.47 per cent to USD 18.24 an ounce in Singapore.
