Silver futures climb Rs 251 on firm global cues

Tracking a firm trend overseas, silver prices surged by Rs 251 to Rs 42,796 per kg in futures trade today as traders built up fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July spurted by Rs 251, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 42,796 per kg, in a business turnover of 47 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in May was trading higher by Rs 242, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 42,335 per kg in 529 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions were created by participants in line with a firm trend in global markets on geopolitical concerns.
 

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.90 per cent to USD 18.40 an ounce in Singapore.
