Silver prices rose by Rs 330 to Rs 40,056 per kg in futures trading today as participants raised their bets amid a firm trend in precious metals overseas.

In futures trading, silver for delivery in far-month May was up by Rs 330, or 0.83 per cent, to Rs 40,056 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange in a business turnover of 12 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in March spurted Rs 319, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 39,437 per kg in 599 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by speculators in step with a firm trend in global markets, influenced silver prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver was up 0.16 per cent to USD 15.98 an ounce in Singapore today.
