Silver futures climb on firm global cues

Speculators indulged in creating fresh positions amid a firm trend at spot market

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Tracking a firming trend in the global market, silver prices jumped by Rs 453 to Rs 37,424 per kg in futures trading today as speculators indulged in creating fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 453, or 1.23%, at Rs 37,424 per kg in business turnover of 1,400 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month May traded higher by Rs 437, or 1.16%, to Rs 38,080 per kg in six lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions built-up by speculators largely in tandem with a firming trend in the precious metals overseas, supported the upside in silver prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver was up 1.70% at $16.85 an ounce in Singapore, the highest level since December 15.
