Silver prices rose Rs 60 to Rs 39,039 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up positions amid a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March gained Rs 60, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 39,039 per kg in a business turnover of 407 lots.

The white metal for delivery in May was trading up by Rs 26, or 0.07 per cent, to Rs 39,540 per kg in two lots.

Analysts said, speculators created fresh positions in tune with firm global trend as the dollar weakened, boosting demand for the precious metal as a safe-haven and pushing silver prices higher.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.24 per cent to USD 17.02 an ounce in Singapore.
