Silver prices fell 0.21% to Rs 34,238 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions even as it strengthened overseas.

In futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month May fell by Rs 73 or 0.21% to Rs 34,238 per kg in a business turnover of 25 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in March contracts eased by Rs 24 or 0.07% to Rs 33,800 per kg in 1,346 lots.

Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators at existing levels weighed on silver futures but a better trend overseas, capped the losses.

Gobally, silver rose 0.61% to $14.01 an ounce in Singapore.
