Silver prices were down 0.51 per cent to Rs 39,553 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced their exposure, driven by a weak trend in global markets.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in far-month September fell by Rs 203, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 39,553 per kg in a business turnover of 48 lots.

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in July contracts traded lower by Rs 178, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 38,873 per kg in 920 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in silver prices in futures trade to a weak trend in global markets.

Meanwhile, silver fell 0.71 per cent to USD 16.18 an ounce in Singapore.
