Silver prices fell by 0.77 per cent to Rs 39,050 per kg in futures trading today as speculators offloaded positions, triggered by a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month December contracts fell Rs 304, or 0.77 per cent to Rs 39,050 per kg in business turnover of 8,070 lots.
Market analysts said speculators trimmed positions in line with a weak global trend as a stronger dollar and signs of an improving US economy cut demand for the precious metals as an alternative investment, mainly kept pressure on silver prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver fell 0.7 per cent to USD 17.37 an ounce in London.
