Silver prices moved down by 1.08 per cent to Rs 45,046 per kg in futures trade today due to reduced offtake, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market amid a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May moved down by Rs 491, or 1.08 per cent to Rs 45,046 per kg in business turnover of 305 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March traded lower by Rs 447, or 1.00 per cent to Rs 44,079 per kg in 10,754 lots.

Market analysts said besides slackened demand at spot markets, weak global trend mainly kept pressure on silver prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver dropped 1.8 per cent to USD 19.52 an ounce in London.
