Silver down by Rs 60 on overseas cues

The March contract of the metal lost 0.12%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid weak global trend, silver prices fell by Rs 60 to Rs 37,944 per kg in futures market today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month May traded Rs 60, or 0.16%, lower at Rs 37,944 per kg in business turnover of 12 lots.

The March contract of the metal lost Rs 46, or 0.12% to Rs 37,306 per kg in 325 lots.

Analysts said trimming of positions by speculadtors tracking a weak trend in global markets, mainly put pressure on silver prices at futures trade here.

Globally, silver fell 0.3% to $16.25 an ounce in Singapore, tumbling 17% this year after a 36% plunge in 2013.

Prices have been hurt by declining demand for the metal amid concern that slowing global growth will cut industrial usage amid an oversupply.
