Silver down by 0.4% on weak global cues

Speculators trimmed positions amid a weakening trend overseas

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid a weakening trend overseas, silver fell Rs 157 to Rs 35,176 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions.

Silver for delivery in December traded lower by Rs 157, or 0.44%, to Rs 35,176 per kg in a business turnover of 396 lots in futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in September was trading Rs 101, or 0.29% lower, at Rs 34,410 per kg in a business turnover of 369 lots.

In international market, silver traded 0.3% lower at $14.56 an ounce in Singapore.

Market analysts said a weak trend in precious metals in global markets as Asian stocks extended a global rout on concern over China's slowdown and its impact on the world economy, kept pressure on silver futures.
