Silver prices fell Rs 59 to Rs 37,151 per kg in futures trade today as speculators cut down their bets, ignoring firming trend overseas.

Silver for delivery in May was trading lower by Rs 59 or 0.16 per cent to Rs 37,551 per kg in a business turnover of 158 lots in futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange.

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in far-month July was down by Rs 51 or 0.13 per cent at Rs 37,999 per kg with a business turnover of 1 lot.

In the international market, silver traded 0.68 per cent higher at USD 15.58 an ounce in Singapore.

Market analysts said lightening of positions by speculators at existing level, pulled down silver futures but a firming trend in the precious metals overseas, limited the fall.
