Taking weak cues from overseas markets, silver prices eased by Rs 61 to Rs 40,473 per kg in futures trading today, as participants cut down their bets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month March next year dropped by Rs 61, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 40,473 per kg, in a business turnover of 49 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in December was trading lower by Rs 60, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 39,835 per kg in 2,148 lots.

Traders said, offloading of positions by participants in line with a weak global trend, mainly led to the fall in silver prices at futures trade.

Globally, silver shed 0.49 per cent to USD 17.11 an ounce in Singapore today.
