Silver futures gain 0.2% on overseas cues

Speculators created fresh positions amid a firm global trend

Silver prices were up by 0.25% to Rs 36,798 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September month rose by Rs 90, or 0.25% to Rs 36,798 per kg in business turnover of 15 lots.

On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in July contracts gained Rs 81, or 0.22% to Rs 36,263 per kg in 117 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators in tandem with a firm global trend mainly led to the rise in silver prices at futures trade.
 
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.2% to $15.93 an ounce in Singapore.
