Silver up 0.3% on global cues

Metal for delivery in July contracts gained 0.25%

Silver prices rose by 0.29% to Rs 36,179 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, taking positive cues from the overseas markets.

Besides, token buying by retailers in the spot markets on the auspicious occasion of "Akshaya Tritiya" day supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May month moved up by Rs 105, or 0.29% to Rs 36,179 per kg in business turnover of 1405 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July contracts gained Rs 92, or 0.25% to Rs 36,611 per kg in 96 lots.

Analysts said a firming global trend and and token buying by retailers at spot markets on account of Akshaya Tritiya, considered to be the most auspicious day for buying the precious metals, led to the rise in silver prices at futures trade.
 
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.2% to USD 16.01 an ounce in Singapore.
