Silver prices rose 0.64 per cent in the evening session of futures trading today at Rs 44,456 per kg as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September rose by Rs 284, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 44,456 per kg in a business turnover of 393 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators amdist a firming global trend as tension over Ukraine and in the Middle East increased demand for a haven, mainly influenced the silver prices at futures trade.

Trading for morning session remained closed on account of "Id-ul-Fitr".

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.6 per cent to USD 20.71 an ounce in London.
